TADs

Temporary Anchorage Devices, also known as TADs, are an important advancement in orthodontics. These miniature bone anchors made of a bio-compatible titanium are painlessly inserted into the bone by our doctor at specific sites in the mouth. Because they do not move when force is applied to them they provide an important method to establish what is known in orthodontics as anchorage. In short, they allow us to move teeth more predictably in a desired direction without allowing undesirable side effects to other teeth. TADs are so revolutionary that they can potentially prevent you from needing orthodontic headgear, other bulky appliances or even jaw surgery.

We are excited to be able to use this advanced technique for our patients. Temporary anchorage devices are certainly not recommended for everyone. In fact they are not needed at all in most cases.
